Terms of Service

You may hold a Kinviq account if you are 18 or over, you are creating the account for yourself, and the information you give is your own. One person, one account. An account that is used by somebody other than the person it belongs to is not allowed, and neither is an account created on somebody else’s behalf.

Kinviq is for adults. The minimum age is 18, it applies to every account without exception, and it is enforced by the product rather than by this document:

• You declare your age when you create the account. That declaration is required, and it is recorded. It is a statement by you, and it is not age verification — nobody has checked anything at that point.
• The account does nothing until adult verification has been approved. A new account is inactive and unverified. It cannot browse members, search, message or reach any protected media, and the server refuses every request it makes — the refusal is not a hidden button.
• Verification is an explicit approval by a person or a process Kinviq recognises — never a tick-box, and never a declaration. An account becomes usable when that approval exists and not before.
• Your date of birth is checked against today’s date when you set up your profile. A date that does not make you an adult is refused, and it is refused by the database as well as by the application.

If Kinviq cannot satisfy itself that an account belongs to an adult, the account stays inactive. There is no route around that, and there is no version of this product in which there is one.

What you may do here is bounded by consent and by the law, and the Community Guidelines say what that means in practice. In short: what you do must be lawful, it must be something the other person has actually agreed to, and it must not harm them.

Adult verification exists to establish that an account belongs to an adult. It is a separate step from creating an account, it is a separate step from confirming your email address, and no other step can stand in for it.

A couple account is an account that stands for two people. Kinviq does not have a lawful, technically sound way to verify two adults together, so a couple account cannot become active until it does. One person’s verification will never be treated as evidence about the second person — that is the rule the decision is waiting on, and it is stated here rather than left to be discovered on a screen that does not explain itself.

An account can be suspended or closed by Kinviq where this document, the Community Guidelines or the law require it. A suspended or closed account keeps the session it holds until that session is revoked, and every request from it is refused in the meantime.

There is no self-service way to close an account yet. That is a gap in the product rather than a rule, it is recorded as a gap, and it will be built. Until it is, this document does not pretend a route exists that does not.

Every document here carries a version. When the wording changes, the version changes with it, and the accounts that accepted an earlier version are asked again rather than being covered silently by the new one. What you accepted, and when, is recorded against the words you were shown.

This section will name the company that operates Kinviq, its registered address, and the way to contact it about these terms. Those details do not exist yet: Kinviq is not a registered entity at the time of writing, and inventing a placeholder here would be worse than saying so. It is one of the items recorded as outstanding for legal review.

Kinviq is operated in the United Kingdom and intends these terms to be governed by the law of England and Wales. That choice, and the jurisdiction that goes with it, is provisional until the operating entity exists.
