Safety & Consent

Kinviq is closed by default. Nothing about your account is shown to another member until your account has passed adult verification, and every member has passed it — so the people who can see you at all are adults whose age has been established on Kinviq’s terms rather than on their own word.

• Every request is checked on the server. An account that has not passed the gate cannot browse members, search, message or reach protected media, and it is refused every time rather than hidden from once.
• Your date of birth is never shown to anybody. Only the age it implies is, and only where age is relevant.
• Your area is a city or a region, never an address, and it is private: no other member is shown it.
• There is no location tracking, no presence indicator and no hidden activity feed. Nothing tells another member when you opened the application.

Consent here is an answer somebody actually gave, for one thing, once, and they can take it back at any point — including part-way through. Silence is not an answer, and neither is “they did not say no”. The Community Guidelines are the full version of that rule.

Every audience Kinviq will offer is inside the gate, and the narrowest is always available:

• Everyone verified. Any account that has passed Kinviq’s adult verification. Never the open internet.
• Friends. People you and they have both agreed to connect with.
• Approved people. Named people you have given access to individually, one at a time.
• Nobody. Only you.

Media and profile visibility settings arrive with the features they govern. They are not offered as switches on a screen today, because there is nothing yet for a switch to act on, and a switch that does nothing takes a decision from you and then ignores it.

These are not rules, and they are not a substitute for your own judgement:

• Take your time. Anyone who rushes you, wants to move the conversation off Kinviq immediately, or becomes unpleasant when you slow down is telling you something worth believing.
• You never owe anybody a photograph, a call, or an answer. Asking once is fine. Being asked repeatedly is not, and it is not your fault.
• Meet in public, and tell somebody where you are going. Kinviq does not verify anything beyond age, so being a verified adult says exactly one thing about somebody: that they are an adult.
• Do not send money, and do not send identity documents to another member. No verification Kinviq runs will ever ask you to send documents to a member.
• Nobody here can give you medical, legal or immigration advice, and anybody who offers it as part of a relationship is not doing you a kindness.

If you are in danger, contact the emergency services. In the United Kingdom that is 999, and 112 from a mobile. Nothing in this product comes before that, and waiting for an answer on a website is not a substitute for it.

For anything else — a person who has broken these rules, content that should not be here, or an account you believe belongs to somebody under 18 — Kinviq will need a way for you to tell it. That flow does not exist yet. It is the next thing to be built after verification itself, and it is listed as a gap rather than described here as though it were finished.

Kinviq is a United Kingdom service and is built for the rules that apply here, including the Online Safety Act. Its position on age assurance is recorded in the project’s compliance documentation, and it is the reason the sign-up declaration is described as a declaration rather than as verification: a self-declaration is not age assurance, and Kinviq does not treat it as any.
